I remember the "Doll" story! You were indeed diabolical for a three year old but like you said, you were an only child and nothing was ever denied you. I also enjoyed reading about your mom's and grandmother's health treatments! Glad you survived them as well as the diseases you were exposed to!

Wow, Beth, you had some pretty bad experiences with your tiny peers!! Diseases, an outhouse and some doll incident to be explained later.

Love the home remedies!! I've heard of the one with onions, caster oil and Vicks, some of the others, not so much.

Hearing your stories makes me feel less abused as a child because my mother hated doctors.

Take care,
Rhonda

Thank you Rhonda. Yes some of those early cures were questionable but some may have worked as better than the pills we have today.
I'm not fond of doctors myself. I think they've been trained to give a drug if we complain, where it is what we need or not.

Those diabolical streaks are many times the highlights of personality. And of course, I can picture you gloating over your own cleverness, of which you surely are even still. I can't imagine anyone getting much over on you. Well, unless you just let them have their way and laugh then they are out of the room. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Thank yuu for the review. Most of us survived the old cures but they weren't something we enjoyed. It made me keep my mouth shut if I didn't feel good.

Thank you Tom. THe work was revenge. Cod live oil and Castor oil left me with a aversion to any kind of oily food.

I haven't heard of Ponds Cold cream in years Beth and this brought back some memories. And cod liver oil! we used to take it and it was so disgusting. We also took this thick black syrup stuff and I just can't remember the name of it now.

A fascinating post about your early childhood Beth.

One small edit here Beth:
. . . .as to how I felt I (was) getting )revenge).

Love Dolly x

How on earth do you remember when getting revenge on someone, perhaps boys are different, I can't remember getting 'revenge' on others heh heh. I think there is a little bit of Jezebel, Eve and Delilah in all females. Although there Esther, Ruth, Mary and Deborah too. Beautifully written Beth, blessings Roy
Typo : how I felt (when) I (was) getting revenge.

Thank you Roy, Yes women are more devious that men. Men try to do things in a physical way while female and more inclined to plot something more complicated, in which no one will realize they are guilty. Most of us tend to outgrow the urge to do that over time.

A fun read that recalled a few memories from my childhood. Thank goodness, treatments for sickness come in the form of pills or not too bad tasting liquids now. Can't wait to read about your revenge.

Thank you for the review. Some of those medicines they gave up were pure torture for kids. I'm glad you found this one fun.
