This was a well-written chapter for your memoir. You used dialogue well to move the story along, and the recital kept pace with this. kay

A grand entrance indeed! Quite a weight and testament to the labour struggles beforehand. The build up of weather intensifies the anxiety and sense of being alone experienced by your mother. But a very satisfying ending to your piece. Last but one sentence: I can't believe I finally have (a) grandchild. There's also some ambiguity in the description of Alma Simmons - Glover's mother and your paternal grand(father)? Otherwise an excellent piece, not quite as flowing as your usual stories but an enjoyable read. Thanks for sharing, Debbie

You brought back the memories of childbirth here Beth and I have never experiences pain like it since! But the consolation prize is the baby and if we are completely crazy we even give birth again and again. A fine post about the expanding family here, much enjoyed, love Dolly x x x

Thank you, I think we have amnesia the whole nine because when It all happens again, were surprised by the intensity of the pain once again.

A very nice story about your entry into the world. Ten pounds - goodness, no wonder poor Lucille was finding it hard! I am glad there were no complications. A beautiful photo - is that you?

Thank you Wendy. It isn't me but I believe I looked just like that. I had a very round face and head full of black hair. I have a picture of me at three and still lookedf like that.

So many things have changed since then, like hospital visits to have a kid versus home birthing. Then there are the visitors which I recall having early in my years when all gathered to celebrate the vent. Now it's another day.

Thank you for the review. You might be surprised to know that home birth using a midwife making a comeback. My three grandchildren were born at home. However I don't know of any doctors who still make house calls. I was delivered with the doctor having some kind of battery light on his head and the nurse holding a flash light. If we'd even had electricity, it would likely have been out with the storm. We had kerocene lamps for three more years.

This is a very interesting story that you have written about your own birth and I enjoyed listening to it very much. It is very well written your paragraph in your sent structure. Your whole presentation is wonderful. Patricia .

Well written.
It's a wonder that your mother let your father 'get to her' ever again! Sounds like she mighta been done with babies after that birth.
They don't make doctors like that anymore.
Best wishes.

Thank you Wayne. All my labors were painful too. Probably a lot of us think once is enough but the memory fades. Mom never had another child but she did have a miscarriage.

The story is getting attention, and it is very interesting. Everyone should learn something about childbirth at a time when it is done at home. Of course, many mothers-to-be have natural birth at home. I learned more about childbirth. The first child I was put to sleep with a long labor; the second, labor was enabled faster. You really bring out beautifully another time frame so that the reader can feel that they are actually there. Ah! This is beautifully written and in such an appropriate sequence with correct tenses of the verbs. Next to the last sentence, a verb was inadvertently left out.

Thank you Glena. I appreciate the review. I had to be born at home by a doctor because a hospital was being built wasn't completed. The bad part was we lived out for town and electricity hadn't come out the far. The had lamps and flash light. I think if we had electricity, it would have been out because of the storm.

Hello, Beth,
Goodness! A 10lb baby girl!
Well, I can certainly relate: I, too, weighed 10lbs, and I was born during a storm! Hah!
I don't know if I could have survived giving birth at home = both of our children were C-sections...

Below, please find some needed edits:

*lightening (lightning)

*a quick peak (peek) at the baby

*lets (let's) see if we can get

*I can.t(can't) believe I findly (finally) have a grandchild. It's been a good day after all."

Thank you for sharing,
diane

Thank you Dolly. I really appreciate you commenting and telling me about my spags. Part of the reason I make errors is Three fingers are numb and I getting them on the home keys.
