Some more fine writing here. Babies born with a caul are suppose to be psychic. Maybe Lucille was born that way too as she had that vision of you. I love how she defies her husband.

Thank you for the review and comments. Veil or not Mom was a little psychic. She was always having deja vu moments and there were an there other times she saw thing no one else could see and had dreams come true. I've had a weird things like that happen myself. My cousin, Jeanine, with the caul claims she see angels and thinks she knows thing other don't. She is getting some dementia now so I 'm not sure about her.

Although I remember your stories, each time you retell them, you give me more information and share a different perspective. This one I particularly liked because it showed your mother's strength and of course, that her faith in God gave her a gift to believe He would grant her deep desire for a baby - YOU! Great job with this!

Thank you Helen. I really appreciate the review and I'm always pleased with six stars. Mom was a remarkable woman. we sometime butted heads but I was lucky to have her for a mother.

Excellent writing. It is full of good sensory words and vibrant imagery. The image supports your words well. My eldest sister was born with a veil. The strangest thing, that I now know, is that my mom passed away on my sisters birth date. That was her first child of five, born with a veil, and she was born on the date my mother would die, decades later. I was thinking I would like to research how often this happens. Imagine if a veiled baby were to predict a date of their mother's future death?

I enjoyed reading the wonderful details you write. Thank you for sharing this. Good luck with the whole book, too. I enjoyed reviewing it.

Best wishes!

Alex

Thank you Alex. I'm glad you liked my story. There seems to be something weird about numbers, I married on the 23rd my mother and my husband both died on the 23rd, last January my best friend died on the 23rd. It's a bit spooky.
As to the veil, many claim it is the sign of true physic.
Jeanine didn't predict her mother's death because I looked in on my genealoty chart. She was born 7/18 and her mother died 9/18. However she claims to have seen an angel and she says she hears and knows thing other people don't. She is getting senile so thought that might be involved. I don't think she has ever heard being born with veil is the sign of a physic.

You caught me with your "electricity" line which pretty much says it all about each of us. If we don't know about something, then we can't miss it. But when we learn about something, we just can't seem to live without it. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

It was quite unusual for women to drive during that period of time ands I am glad that Lucille learned to drive as it gave women their independence. My Mother never learned to drive, she tried it but never passed her test. I enjoyed your lovely history story filling in the gaps of your ancestry here Beth, love Dolly x

Thank you Dolly. American women might have been more eager to drive. However I had a mother-in-law aner sister in law who didn't. Thanks for the review. Husbands ane Dads are the most patient teachers.

Love that exchange between the couple. It seemed realistic and humorous. I may not have read enough or where its going, but the man's attitude had me feeling edgy. I could follow this story to the end. I liked how he got her going and then she just took off in the car. The time piece and setting is all interesting.

My wife and I wanted a baby, but it was a mixed blessing. My wife got pregnant in the second month of marriage, and it seemed like one way or another, we were always a threesome rather than a pair. My wife taught me how to drive standard shift, and I sometimes got stuck in traffic on hills! Thank you for another refreshing story in your continuation of this great family saga and I look forward to more (especially in times when I have six stars!)

Thank you Jim, It is better to wait a while after you get married to start a family. We were never sure but when it happened we adjusted tot he idea. Thanks for the review.

One advantage was, my wife had a bad infection and I had to care for my daughter a lot. Now that my wife's gone, my daughter and I have a strong bond.

An excellent story. I feel for Lucille with her controlling and insensitive husband - and I hope he doesn't react badly to the news of the pregnancy. You were greatly longed for by your mother, and I am sure your father eventually adjusted. Very well written!

Thank you Wendy I really appreciate the review and comments. By writing this I hope I might get more insight into the personality of my father. I'm not sure I ever fully understood him. I guess all of us are more than what first meets the eye and we complicated and multi-layered being that sometimes contridict initial impressions.
    Does that even make sense?

Very well written.
Boy were things different back then.
Your scene of foretelling the future of little girl Beth was interesting.
Best wishes.

Couldn't she see how selfish he is? Well, maybe not. Women were treated as children then. You write well, but my dander is up. I hate that we are still treated as cattle many places. Karen

I think men in those days thought their wives were their property and they needed to control them and make all the decisions. Lucille won't let him get away with that and they will argue a lot.
Most women these day won't put up with it. I surely wouldn't.

Me neither. Those days were never ones I lived in much.
