A poem for Vincent Van Gogh

Vincent's Prayer

by easyeverett1

Hear his plea
Outside the bounds
Of suffering
Within the song of soul

Precarious the maestro plays
Nocturnal notes forgotten
That will flash and splash
Like rivers
Of grand silver-threaded
Raindrop pearls
Against his window pane

Memory unfolds
In silent mood
Drowning out emotion's
Failing grace
To leave but spectral drops
Of moisture's rainbow tears
Shed from his eyes long blind
To life's reality
Pain long concealed
Hides deep inside
As darkness falls

Engulf him sweetly
In the succor of his sleep
Take this a bitter life
Replete with shadows pale
Release then golden
Shimmering shades
Of rainbow sun's surreal caress;
Give him peace
Hear his plea;

"Let me be"
