Minute Poem

Refuge In Death

by The Death

The sea is mum to mourn for loss
of lives across
his wide expanse--
one lethal chance

for souls to break away from threats,
and sail new bets...
which turned around
in minutes' bound.

With refuge found in lap of death;
the world took breath
in grief to snap
their timeless nap.

Young boy found lying face-down on a beach near Turkish resort of Bodrum was one of at least 12 Syrians who drowned attempting to reach Greece. Little Aylan, three, and Galip Kurdi, five, were on an overcrowded boat filled with refugees fleeing the war in Syria when it capsized shortly into the crossing to the Greek island of Kos.

Both boys died in the sea alongside their mother, Rehan, while their father Abdullah survived.
