An Acrostic Sonnet

Rainy Day Kisses

by RodG

Romance Contest Winner

Rain poured and poured that day in May

As we embraced while getting soaked.

It slapped still waters in the bay

Now greyed by fog, its surface cloaked.

Young love is not put off by squalls,

Deterred by sudden drenching rain.

A boy and girl if one recalls

Yen for each other, won’t complain.

Kissed sweetly and the rain’s ignored

Incessant though it seems to be,

Such joy an unforeseen reward.

So we continued ceaselessly

Enjoying kisses, wondrous sighs

Soft-spoken ‘neath rain-splashing skies.

Writing Prompt
Poetry and love have been synonymous since poetry was first invented. Your acrostic poem should relate to this subject. An acrostic is a poem which spells out a word or idea. Sometimes what it spells out is the the title of the poem itself. Usually the first letter of each line spells out this key word.
